Have you been to a gym lately? If you have, then you will notice that the price for a monthly membership usually runs well over $30.00 a month. Combined with a new membership fee, feel free to add another bill to your monthly set of bills.
Nobody likes the scenario above. If you want to add another bill to your monthly set of bills, you’re insane. Instead of doing this, you should build a home gym. All you need is a pull up bar, adjustable dumbbells, push up stands, and a dip stand, for example. In fact, if you’re going to be doing the P90X program, all you really need is a pull up bar and adjustable dumbbells.
Pull Up Bar:
Pull ups are easily one of the most important exercises that you can do for your body, and your back. I do pull up exercises on Monday and Friday. I highly recommend purchasing a doorway pull up bar for these exercises.
Adjustable Dumbbells:
The Powerblock Adjustable Dumbbells are my favorite adjustable dumbbells. They’re high quality, usually come with a 10-year warranty, and they work extremely well. You absolutely need a good pair of adjustable dumbbells if you plan to successfully build muscle from home.
Push Up Stands:
Although they are not necessary, Tony Horton does recommend using push up stands because they increase your range of motion. What does this mean? Increasing your range of motion means that you’re making the exercise more difficult, giving you better results than you would get with regular push ups.
Dip Stand:
Although a dip stand is not necessary, dips are extremely challenging. I actually haven’t done dips in the past few years, as they’re not a part of the P90X workout program. If you have the money and the room, I do recommend performing dips as a part of your exercise routine.
Final Thoughts:
You can spend hundreds of dollars a year with a gym membership. Even memberships on the low end still usually cost more than $30.00 a month. Even then, there are usually all sorts of sign up fees, as well as fees if break the terms of the contract. Fantastic, right? If you can no longer afford your gym membership because money is tight, you’re going to be penalized for that too. Go figure.
More and more people are beginning to see that working out from home is truly the best and cheapest way to workout. Although it’s not for everyone, working out from home can provide people with awesome results.
To kick your home gym into high gear, I recommend purchasing a pull up bar, adjustable dumbbells, push up stands, along with a dip stand. Although these 4 things don’t seem like a lot, they will allow you to do all of the necessary exercises to build a great amount of muscle mass.
